My Pre-Teaching Philosophy

My Motivation 

I study language pedagogy at Universidad Técnica de Ambato, and I am in the third semester. I chose this career because I love English, and I want to help children learn this beautiful language in a fun and interesting way. When I was in school, I had teachers who inspired me by making the learning process enjoyable and meaningful. They motivated me to follow their example and become a teacher who creates positive experiences in the classroom. My dream is to become a teacher who not only teaches English but also supports and inspires students to grow and believe in themselves.

I want to teach English to children in basic education. At this stage, students are open, curious, and full of energy. It is a special moment in their lives when they can develop a love for language learning if guided in the right way. My goal is to create a space where they feel confident, supported, and excited about learning English.

My teaching philosophy is inspired by three important educational theorists:  Lev Vygotsky  Lev Vygotsky (1978) believed that children learn through social interaction and support. His theory of the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) says that students can do more with help than alone. In my classroom, I will guide you, and students will also work with classmates to learn together. This creates a collaborative environment in which they feel safe to try and participate. Jean Piaget  Jean Piaget (1952) focused on the stages of cognitive development. He believed that children learn best by exploring and doing things themselves. I will apply his ideas by allowing students to work on tasks that involve creativity and problem-solving. For example, they will build dialogues, create visual materials, and do role plays. My Teaching Methods

My teaching method is focused on interaction, creativity, and exploration. I believe that children learn best when they are active and engaged. In my classroom, I will use songs, role plays, group work, flashcards, drawings, stories, and real-life examples. I want students to feel that English is part of their lives and not just a school subject. For example, in a unit about food, students can create their own menus or act out scenes in a restaurant. I will also use games where they have to speak and collaborate with their classmates. All this helps them practice vocabulary, pronunciation, and confidence. My goal is to build a strong foundation in English while making learning enjoyable and memorable. I also want to promote student autonomy. I will give students opportunities to discover new vocabulary by using pictures and context.
